African Print Apron
This ruffly apron is made by displaced women involved in a tailoring initiative in Northern Uganda who are a part of the Canaan Farm resettlement community. Canaan Farm was founded several years ago by an Ugandan family in response to the displacement of fellow brethren due to a longstanding Civil War in the northern part of their nation. In 2008 Yobel partnered with this community to fund a micro-grant helping to establish a small income generation project. Today approximately 18 women and 5 men are employed making both jewelry and tailored items.
Yobel pays this community a livable wage for their products, helping to double the amount of consistent income available while investing profits from US-based sales into the building and maintaining of an Elementary School along with 2 teacher salaries.
